Scott Geer has a passion for trees that goes back to his academic training in Forestry and Forest Entomology. With a Bachelor degree in Forestry and a Masters in Forest Entomology from Stephen F. Austin State University, Scott went to work as a forester for a small lumber company in Woodville, Texas and then the U.S. Forest Service in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Scott began a 28 year career in the rapidly expanding information technology I/T industry in 1980 working for IBM for 18 years along with other smaller companies. While working in the I/T industry, Scott stayed current on trends in natural resources management and in 2007 decided to return to his first love. He gained his Arborist certification in early 2008 and has been working as a fulltime Arborist since then.
Scott brings a wealth of business and technical experience to his passion for trees in the urban landscape. He is a member and is certified as an Arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and is a graduate of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) Academy.
Scott is currently the owner of, and principal consulting arborist for Tree Shepherds. Tree Shepherds is focused on the long term health and beauty of their client’s trees and provides a full suite of arboriculture consulting services. Scott and his wife, Noreen, have raised six children in Lewisville, Texas and continue to reside in that community.
Clayton, alongside Scott, started Tree Shepherd’s tree surgery department in 2011 and is now the Chief Operations Officer. Over the years he has developed a solid understanding of trees. Clayton still greatly enjoys climbing in the canopy of a tree and applying the art and science of tree pruning. He also takes care of all the equipment and enjoys keeping everything running. You will see find him working on the crews and proposing estimates to customers.
In 2016 Clayton completed his BS in Mechanical engineering from the University of North Texas. Clayton has one 6-year-old son. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, snowboarding, and anything else athletic. Clayton also loves to build and create things with his hands.
Stan loves climbing trees! When he began in the tree care industry in 2012, he took to the trees like a squirrel and never looked down. Climbing is one of his favorite topics, so if you’re interested in climbing trees, give him a call!
Stan is also an ISA certified arborist and has been with Tree Shepherds for 2 years. You will find him as a crew leader, tree climber, or giving an estimate. He and his wife Christy have 2 kids and live in Garland, Texas.
Kim Sterenberg has been with Tree Shepherds since January of 2014, directing day-to-day operations of the business, overseeing customer support, and the scheduling of work for customers and employees. She and her husband moved to Texas after Kim's husband completed his studies at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), Kim also graduated from UNI with a Bachelors degree in Communication. Since the move to Texas Kim and her husband have raised 5 sons and enjoy spending most of their free time with their children and grandchildren. Kim is the first voice that our clients hear when they make a call. She looks forward to your call!
Joe began his Arborist career in the summer of 2016 after leaving the world of IT (he got bored sitting down all day long). He graduated from Texas A&M with a BBA in Accounting and a MS in Management. Joe enjoys unicycling, juggling, and occasionally doing both at the same time. He is currently working on becoming a Firefighter in North Texas, and will still climb trees and play in the dirt on his days off.
Austin is a California native who transplanted to TX in 2015 shortly after marrying his college sweetheart in the fall of 2014.
Austin lives in Grapevine TX where he and his wife love to be engaged in the local small-town community. Some of Austin’s biggest passions are hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. His all-time favorite hobby is building his own archery tackle from natural materials. From wooden bows and arrows to everything in between, there isn’t a single aspect of archery that Austin doesn’t have an intimate knowledge and understanding of.
Ethan Geer has been with Tree Shepherds for 4 years doing plant health care, bookkeeping, marketing, and answering phone calls. He loves to play basketball, ping pong, piano, and board games. He and his wife Morgan have a passion for foster care and became licensed as foster parents in December 2017.
Ethan also has a bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship from the University of north Texas, and an associate’s in music from Collin College. John Pinney is on his 3rd year with the company as a top tier ground guy and beginning climber. He married his beautiful English Bride in the spring of 2018 and has traveled the globe with her on his time off.
John has a passion for people and loves to educate anyone who shows interest in a myriad of topics. John’s personal hobbies include sailing, hunting, camping, backpacking, climbing, and traveling!
A tree once provided solace to Aaron as he scrambled up into the branches to escape an irritable canine. Thus began Aaron’s love for trees. Each time Aaron is on a job he is inspired by that day to create masterpieces out of each tree he prunes.
With over 3 years training under the eye of a certified arborist, Aaron provides his skills to enhance the beauty of clients’ trees and help them grow into what they were meant to be.
Aaron is also talented at sketching, chess, and piano in his free time. Our clients can look for Aaron on a crew!
Meg started with the Tree Shepherds team in April 2019 andhelps Kim in the office by answering client’s calls and scheduling the crew. Shealso helps with marketing.
Meg is a soon to be graduate from the University of NorthTexas with a major in Art and Design and a minor in Marketing. In her sparetime, she likes to be creative and visit museums, but also enjoys volunteeringat the Dallas Museum of Art when she gets a chance. She’s excited to be a partof the Tree Shepherds crew and learn all about trees and the marketing side ofthe business!
Tiana started working for the company after raising eyebrows at the annual ISA Tree Climbing Competition where she was one of just three ladies to compete.
She got her foot in the door through climbing, but her real passion for trees is in plant health care and diagnosis.
She is currently studying horticulture and helping Tree Shepherds develop the plant health care side of the business. You'll see her on both the tree surgery and plant health care crews and tagging along on consultations.
